See the original video here.
Skipping the preamble describing the video. Let's get down to brass tacks.
Google carefully filters their autocomplete results:
Google has repeatedly faced lawsuits regarding it's autocomplete results, and filters them very carefully to remove any derogatory suggestions. They are NOT based on search term popularity only.
Feel free to compare those to the Bing results, a search engine that no one has sued on account that no one uses it. They would have to google Bing's website just to find it.
On second thought:
Maybe not such a great idea.
The premise establishing the video is wrong:
"There is an inherent trust that when you Google something, you are seeing the actual, factual answer to your query or question."
If you hold this belief, I shudder for the safety of those around you. For example:
That answer comes from the site Quora, specifically from this guy:
Well, guy who is interested in philosophy, you make some great points about how what goes around comes around, which is the kind of philosophical bedrock upon which all law is based.
Let's go with something simpler:
Just a bunch of links to relevant websites - no answers directly, because that is the nature of a search engine. If one can argue that "Wikipedia is not a reliable source for information" - which it isn't, as it only represents a collection of information construed from other online sources, then Google is little more than Portobello Road, where any deranged weirdo can hawk their conspiracies.
Why are those results listed in that order? What is Google hiding from us? Obviously we should just "Bing" it.
Searches related to Bernie have more tame autocomplete results through Google:
For example, here, no autocomplete is shown at all:
Bing on the other hand should be renamed "Binge:"
Let's try some experiments. Again, Google first:
And Bing, the autocomplete equivalent of a used car salesman:
And what's this? Oh yeah, Yahoo uses Bing too, but with some news thrown in there:
In closing, I agree that this may be the biggest story that SourceFed has reported.
